{"id":2627,"date":"2023-05-25T00:20:54","date_gmt":"2023-05-25T00:20:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iplantmachinery.com\/au\/?p=2627"},"modified":"2023-07-30T21:38:23","modified_gmt":"2023-07-30T21:38:23","slug":"do-i-need-a-high-risk-work-licence-for-a-vertical-lift","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iplantmachinery.com\/au\/do-i-need-a-high-risk-work-licence-for-a-vertical-lift\/","title":{"rendered":"Do I Need A High Risk Work Licence For A Vertical Lift ?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Over the years there have been so many changes to the licencing requirements for <a href=\"https:\/\/iplantmachinery.com\/au\/\">plant and machinery<\/a>, it can be hard to keep up.\u00a0 Vertical Lifts are a sub-category of Elevating Work Platforms (EWP) and come with their own licensing requirements.<\/p>\n<p>The simple answer to, do I need a high-risk work licence for a vertical lift.\u00a0 Is NO you don\u2019t need one.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/iplantmachinery.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/yellow-card-vertical-lift.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2629 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/iplantmachinery.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/yellow-card-vertical-lift.jpg\" alt=\"yellow card vertical lift\" width=\"500\" height=\"334\" srcset=\"https:\/\/iplantmachinery.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/yellow-card-vertical-lift.jpg 500w, https:\/\/iplantmachinery.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/yellow-card-vertical-lift-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/iplantmachinery.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/yellow-card-vertical-lift-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/iplantmachinery.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/yellow-card-vertical-lift-180x120.jpg 180w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Let\u2019s take a deeper look at it.<\/h3>\n<p>Boom tyre elevating work platforms (where the length of the boom is 11 metres or more) means a telescoping device, the hinged device of an articulated device, or any combination of these, used to support a platform on which personnel, equipment and materials may be elevated.<\/p>\n<p>A high-risk work licence is required for boom lifts that have the capacity to extend 11 metres or above.<\/p>\n<h3>What is a Vertical lift?<\/h3>\n<p>Vertical lifts operate extended straight up in a vertical manner, the vertical type, vertical mast or personnel lifts come in two configurations.<\/p>\n<p>Both elevate using a telescopic mast in a vertical direction only.<\/p>\n<p>Vertical lifts will usually have limited capability in terms of weight and extension and are most often used for internal maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs.<\/p>\n<h3>No licence is required for a Vertical lift<\/h3>\n<p>While there is no formal licence needed for these types of machinery, you still need to be deemed competent in its use.<\/p>\n<p>There is no better way to achieve competency than undertaking training for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skillscertified.com.au\/\">Registered Training Organisation<\/a> RTO.<\/p>\n<p>Depending on the courses that the RTOs can offer, some will offer a<a href=\"https:\/\/startraining.com.au\/courses\/yellow-card-vertical-scissor-boom-lifts\/\"> Yellow Card for a Vertical lift<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Generally, this type, of course, will be 8 hours and will provide the necessary knowledge and skills to operate Vertical Lifts in a safe and competent manner in accordance with workplace requirements in any environment.<\/p>\n<h3>What do I get when I finish the course?<\/h3>\n<p>Once finished, you will be issued a\u00a0 Yellow card.\u00a0 Which is issued by the <a href=\"https:\/\/ewpa.com.au\/\">Elevated work platform association<\/a> of Australia for the VL class.<\/p>\n<h3>What does it cover<\/h3>\n<p>Generally, you will cover topics like<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How to plan and prepare for operations<\/li>\n<li>Conducting work activities from an elevating work platform<\/li>\n<li>Carry out operator maintenance<\/li>\n<li>And of course clean up.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Any training that you can do or offer employees.\u00a0 That helps you or your business have safe and effective use of plant and machinery.
