nissan forklifts

The Nissan forklift brand is no more. Nissan as a brand made the decision to get out of the industrial equipment market way back before 2012.

A Nissan forklift or a Nissan engine was one of the most popular forklifts and engines out there. But the Nissan brand name is soon to be a forgotten brand in the Australian industrial equipment market.

What happened to the Nissan forklift ?

A Nissan forklift is now known as Unicarriers, and the Nissan engine is now known as GCT, which stands for Global Components Technology.  A wholly owned subsidiary of Unicarriers.

The Nissan K21 and Nissan K25 engine were perhaps the most popular engines in the world is now known as the GCT K21 or K25.

A K21 or K25 engine can still be found in Caterpillar, Nissan, Kalmar, Mitsubishi, TCM forklifts

Same the Nissan forklift what was known as a Nissan P1f2A25dU is now known as the Unicarriers P1F2a25DU.

Same nuts and bolts that make it, just a different name.

Buying a Nissan forklift

What about back up and support?

Nissan (Unicarriers) forklifts as a brand is still supported parts wise.  You can talk to a company like Lencrow (Recently acquired by the North Fork Group).  Lencrow Forklift is the current Australian dealers for Unicarriers (Nissan).  Or you can talk to any forklift dealer which will know where to source parts from.

Where can you buy Nissan forklift manuals

You can buy them through our manuals store. We have a wide range of Nissan manuals amongst other makes and models.

You can also approach the dealer for Nissan (Unicarriers), for the same thing.

Parts can still be purchased through most forklift dealers.

Do they still compare as a decent forklift?

The last P1f2 Nissan forklift model that was release was a ground-breaking forklift when it comes to forklift technology, with things like:

  • digital dash display
  • built in weight indication
  • operator presence system
  • finger tip controls

Now the Unicarriers (Nissan) forklifts are very much in line with many different manufacturers in the marketplace.

Will Nissan re-enter the industrial equipment market?

At this stage we highly doubt it, but you never know.

Who owns the Unicarriers brand now ?

Mitsubishi heavy industries now owns the Unicarriers brand.  They started operation as Mitsubishi Logisnext in 2017.

What range of forklift models is there

Unicarriers (Nissan) forklifts for one reason or another now only offer a limited range of the Unicarriers branded forklift models in Australia.  The CF range from Americas no longer comply to Australian standards.

Also, some of the battery electric range from the Japan factories also do no comply to Australian Standards.

Which leaves the Internal Combustion range from Japan, and some of the battery electric models from the Europe factory.

There are a lot of different forklifts makes in the Australian market. Not all are created equal, from budget priced private label branded Chinese import forklifts to German designed and engineered forklifts.  There is a forklift for everyone.

But you will no longer be able to buy  new Nissan forklifts in the Australian Market.
